Coded or Community-Use Tool

Build a modest tool that helps one real user complete one recurring community task.

Workflow

  1. Name the user, decision, task, and setting.
  2. Document how the work is handled now.
  3. Define the minimum inputs, rules, outputs, and user actions.
  4. Build an accessible version that someone else can edit.
  5. Label sources, assumptions, and sample data clearly.
  6. Test three realistic, non-sensitive cases.
  7. Write concise instructions, limits, maintenance needs, and the next improvement.

Deliverables

  • Editable source or shareable tool
  • README
  • Tool brief
  • Comparative analysis
  • Test record
  • Handoff note

Approval question

This is one option.

Street Master Plan is not required unless you choose that option. Confirm your selection and tailored scope with the instructor.
