Serial Vision
Document how a place is experienced in sequence, then explain what that sequence reveals about urban form and public life.
Due September 30 at the start of class · 3%
What you will produce
- Define the route, start, finish, and direction of travel.
- Show four to six ordered observation points and views.
- Add at least two relevant annotations to each view.
- Write a concise interpretation connecting sequence to planning or design.
- End with one planning or design question.
Conservation Analysis
Map natural systems, working lands, recreation, conservation opportunities, or hazards and connect the evidence to planning and code.
Due October 14 at the start of class · 3%
What you will produce
- Choose layers that answer a defined planning question.
- Use percent-slope classes of 15 to below 20, 20 to below 25, and 25 or above.
- Document data source, date, coverage, units, and limitations.
- Separate no mapped feature from no data coverage.
- Explain implications and propose proportionate zoning or subdivision recommendations.
Value Per Acre Analysis
Compare assessed property value per acre and visualize the pattern by extruding parcels in three dimensions.
Due November 4 at the start of class · 3%
What you will produce
- Use the provided parcel, zoning, tax-value, and 3D resources.
- Document valuation year, value field, acreage field, joins, missing values, and exclusions.
- Calculate value per acre only where acreage is valid.
- Include public and tax-exempt parcels unless you explicitly document another treatment.
- Label extrusion height as a value symbol, not physical building height.
- Explain what the pattern suggests and what it cannot establish.
Individual Assignment 4
Choose one approved method that adds useful evidence to your community project.
Due November 18 at the start of class · 3%
What you will produce
- Select one option with a clear connection to the partner scope.
- Use a consistent comparison framework.
- Keep sources, observations, inference, and unknowns distinct.
- Make one proportionate recommendation and identify the next verification or action.
